The True Cost of Towing in Calgary
If you have ever had a car break down on the Deerfoot Trail or near the Saddledome, you know that towing isn’t cheap. Most towing companies in Calgary charge a “hook-up fee” (often starting at $100) plus a per-kilometer rate. If your car is worth $500 in scrap, but the tow costs $150, you’ve already lost a massive chunk of your value before the car even reaches the yard.
At Citywide Cash For Cars, we believe you shouldn’t have to pay to get rid of a vehicle headache. Whether your car is sitting in a downtown parkade, blocked in a narrow Beltline alley, or sinking into a suburban driveway in McKenzie Towne, our Free Towing Service is designed to save you money, time, and stress.
When Can You Use Our Free Towing Service?
Our complimentary towing is specifically tailored for vehicle disposal and recycling. It is the ideal solution for:
- Scrap Car Disposal: If the car is headed for our recycling facility, the tow is on us.
- Mechanical Failures: Blown head gaskets, transmission failure, or seized engines.
- Accident Recovery: Vehicles that are no longer road-safe or have been “totaled” by insurance.
- Estate Cleanouts: Clearing out old vehicles from a property you’ve recently acquired or inherited.
- Abandoned Vehicle Removal: Helping property managers clear unauthorized junk cars from private lots legally.
Why Choose Citywide for Free Towing?
Calgary is a sprawling city with unpredictable weather. Moving a dead vehicle during a -30°C cold snap or a summer hailstorm requires professional-grade equipment. We aren’t just a “guy with a truck”; we are a full-service automotive recycling partner.
We Solve the "No-Roll" Problem
Many free towing services refuse to take cars that don’t roll, have seized brakes, or are missing wheels. We don’t shy away from the hard jobs. Our fleet is equipped with specialized winches and dollies to safely extract vehicles that have been stationary for years.
Same-Day Response Across All Quadrants
We know that when you decide to get rid of a junk car, you want it gone immediately. We strategically position our trucks near major arteries like Stoney Trail and Glenmore Trail to ensure we can reach any quadrant of the city within hours, not days.
Zero Hidden Deductions
The most common complaint in the junk car industry is the “bait and switch.” A company quotes you a price, but when the tow truck arrives, they deduct $75 for the “free” tow. With Citywide, “Free” means exactly that—$0.00. The price we quote you is the cash you receive.
The Environmental Impact of Local Towing
Choosing Citywide Cash For Cars isn’t just good for your wallet; it’s good for Calgary’s environment. When we tow your vehicle for free, it isn’t just going to a landfill. We follow a strict eco-friendly process:
- Fluid Drainage: We safely remove oils, coolants, and fuel to prevent them from leaching into the Calgary soil or the Bow River watershed.
- Part Salvage: We identify components that can be reused, reducing the energy required to manufacture new parts.
- Steel Recycling: The metal from your car is processed and melted down, supporting a circular economy right here in Alberta.

Navigating Calgary’s Toughest Removal Spots
Calgary’s geography and urban design can make towing a challenge. We have optimized our service to handle the city’s most difficult spots:
Underground Parkades & Low Clearances
Many downtown Calgary condos and office buildings near The Bow or Brookfield Place have low-clearance parkades. We utilize specialized “low-profile” tow trucks that can enter these garages to retrieve vehicles that won’t start, preventing you from getting fined by your condo board.
Narrow Back-Alleys
If you live in older communities like Kensington, Marda Loop, or Bridgeland, you know how tight the alleys can be. Our drivers are master maneuverers who can winch a vehicle out of a narrow garage without disturbing your neighbors or damaging fences.
Rural & Satellite Areas
We don’t just stop at the city limits. If you need free towing for a junk car in Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane, or Okotoks, we extend our professional services to you. We are the go-to choice for those living near the Calgary Zoo or out toward Calaway Park.
